Hi, I'm John Paul Vasquez. This week,

we're broadcasting live from the control room of the Sandin House discussing the 2013 horror

thriller, The Purge. This film was written and directed by James Domenico. Anchored by an intriguing

premise and fantastic lead cast, The Purge attempts social and political commentary through the

lens of the home

invasion subgenre of horror. While the film received mixed reviews from critics, it would go on

to achieve box office success on a modest budget and would spawn its own franchise, including

four sequels, and a television show. This film was suggested to us by Friends of the Show,

Kristen Lofton, Antonio Casas Huerta, and Nathan Wofford.

What were your first impressions on the film?

Did we watch this together, right?

We did.

It was 2013, so it was back when we had a Hastings.

Oh, yeah. And I remember renting it. R-I-P Hastings. I know. I love that place. I don't want to talk about it. It's so hard to say goodbye. Should we sing? I think, I mean, honestly. It's so hot. All right. You know, honestly, that wasn't a bad opportunity.
