Hey everybody, welcome to the Krebscast, I'm your host Charlie Barons, and my guest this week

is Arizona Diamondbacks Catcher Dalton Varsho. Now I know what you're thinking, Charlie,

with the brews doing so gosh darn good. How can you have an Arizona Diamondback on the Krebscast?

Well, because this Diamondback ladies and gentlemen grew up in Marshfield, Wisconsin. He's

born and bred Wisconsin. Great guy, great fan of the show. He went to UW Milwaukee.

He does like the cobs, and honestly that's something I really pressed him on during this interview.

But no, he is a great guy, and actually, you know, I don't, I didn't want to brag to him,

but I bragged a little bit about, you know, I was a catcher myself. First grade,

I was playing for the Orioles, okay? And, uh, yeah, I was a minor league team, all right?

But I had a lot of potential. I did. I knew I had to blow a mean bubble too, but I wasn't quite

admittedly into all the intricacies of like all the signs the catchers do. You know,

you kind of see it when you're watching baseball. You see the catchers doing those signs and touching

their inner thighs and flesh and numbers down in their crotch area. But what I learned from Dalton

in this interview is just how much the catchers need to know about every single batter what signs

to throw and also seeing like how they approach the mound gives them insight into their sort of

mental situation. So the catchers, I think, is the most fascinating player on the on the baseball

diamond. And then one other thing is like, don't you always want to know what the catchers talk

to the pitchers about when they go up there? Like the pitchers sucking the catcher goes up on the

mound? Don't you want to, I mean, they got to be like, like kind of like, uh, psychologist,

you know, I hope no psychologists are found by this. But, you know, and so we get the answer to

all these questions with Dalton later on in the podcast. But first, I just want to give you a
