My friend McKenna Goodrich joins us via Zoom from her home in Georgia to bravely share her story in hopes of helping others. McKenna talks about coming out to herself knowing she was different and then coming out to others. McKenna talks her personal relationship with Jesus and love from her Heavenly Father that is helping her on her journey. McKenna (whose Mom Alicia Hall was on Episode 596) talks about the experiences that led her to understand she is lesbian how that, along with being a beloved daughter of God, is part of her identity—both being good things. McKenna talks about her patriarchal blessing, why she is a member of the Church, why she hopes to serve and mission, and her hopes for the future. McKenna is a member of Gen Z of which 19.7% identify as LGBTQ (Gallup). Great episode for Y/W leaders to listen and then counsel together on how to support Y/W who are not straight/cis (including those who are not out). McKenna has great support from her Y/W leaders. 0:38.7	McKenna's mom, Alicia, was on the podcast, episode 596, that was released in December of 2022.
0:46.3	And in that podcast, she talked about her lesbian 17-year-old daughter.

0:57.2	what's the right word i'm looking forward willing to share her story with all of us and um she came
1:05.7	out to her mom at age 15 and um is active in the church goes to seminary, plans to serve a mission.
1:13.3	But how brave of it is for McKenna to be willing to share her soul story, her story with our

1:20.5	And McKenna, before we started, said, please, can we say a prayer?
1:24.9	And we usually do that, but I just like the McKenna wanted to do that. I think
1:28.3	it gives you an intight into her and who she is and her faith and courage. And our prayers, this
1:34.1	will help those of you that are out or closeted. Maybe some of you that are particularly young
1:40.7	and wondering how to navigate this. McKenna's a junior at high school as well as parents listening to,
1:47.6	is it okay if I use the term queer at times, McKenna?
