Proportial representation effectively allows people to go on political ego trips about

what specific thing they want and it effectively divvies out power to everybody and only really

results in coalition government.

You see that wherever PR is implemented, to me that's really what keyestamas labour

is all about.

They know you can't get a social majority based out of particularly with the constituency

system based out of the liberal middle class that live in London effectively but it is

a huge proportion of the vote and by just focusing on those votes you could get a huge

electoral share without having to worry about going back to economic, the radical policies

that could attract working class people in post-industrial areas.

Yeah, it's funny because you see a similar response by the Democrats in America to Donald

Trump's election where suddenly they say, well, it's kind of these like technocratic

one-word trick fixes as opposed to actually doing politics.

So they say, okay, we're going to get rid of the electoral college so that now because

Hillary Clinton, she could drive up the votes in big cities and not focus on and the Democrats

can effectively then continue to move rightward and leave the post-industrial rural areas

that have been completely gutted over the past 40 years by their own policies.

Yeah, I mean, Hillary is really great.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, and just leave them forever because now they can just have the big urban

city centers and drive up the votes there.
