Hi and welcome to the official Outlander podcast. I am writer and executive producer Tony Grafia and today I'm here with our co-executive producer Luke Skelhaus and this is our final

podcast of the season. It's episode 608. I am not alone and it was written by Luke.

Yes, happy to be here, happy to talk about this episode.

I'm, as always, very, very pleased with how it all came out and yeah very excited to do another

podcast.

I can't believe it's our last one and I just I want everyone to know we're just as

depressed about it as you guys are I should say happy to see the

episode but sad that it's our last one for the season. But it's been a great season. It was

unexpected to only do eight. But there you go, the finale finale we can talk about why and how this was actually an easy decision because the episode sort of lent itself to that.

Yeah, we had planned 12 episodes as we always do, but because of COVID, we're only able to do, and it just so happened that this ended up feeling like a season finale in and of itself with a few with a few adjustments we really had a finale in this episode.

Yeah, we'd actually planned and we're in the process

of working on four other episodes and,

which will be folded into next season, the super size season, which we'll see 16 episodes.

So this one just ended up being a jam-packed eight episodes that really, really ending with this one, it moves pretty fast. It's a great cliffhanger. I don't think, I think, you know, I don't think anyone will not want to be back for next season to see what happens after

after this ordeal right yeah and just a nod to the title card there I know know it's it's a carmees. Claire has the line in the

dinner scene right where she's saying what her last meal would be and she picks

the burger and fries at Carmies and we see her with Brianna and that's a little nod to

Carmies Lottnick who was one of our Stars executives who who originally championed the show.

Yeah, and it's fun to in this season, especially we didn't have a lot of the

20th century and so it was fun to do that just as a title card.

So then we're back with that. This was yeah this was so much fun to write to conceive and adapt and write this whole shootout that we're about to see and to make it feel like a almost like a Western movie, you know, it was a lot of fun and a lot of fun to plan the shoot and came together so well

I remember that you really loved this this part of the book because they we often get asked especially in the podcast and Merrill asked me what made you pick you know the episode that you wrote and I asked Danny that and I remember that you always love this and we always referred to it as the Western, you know, the Western that's going up and you were like, I wouldn't mind writing that shootout. It sounds like a lot of fun.
