Summary

Journalist Trish Bendix (The New York Times, etc.) is such a fixture in queer media, you would never guess she had no idea she was a lesbian until she was twenty years old! She's got a good theory as to why that is, though... Trish shares about her first relationship in college, and the benefits of continuing to play truth or dare into adulthood. We also discuss the merits of experimentation, the nuances of such classifications as "heteroflexible" and "waist-up bisexual," and GENTLEMAN JACK!

Oh, well, that's so nice of you to have me both because I realize that I've written about both of you before. So it's really funny to actually, yeah, I mean, just to give a brief background. I started, you know, I started when I was in college. When I came out, I realized I could write about queer stuff because it became like obvious to me. Oh, I can actually write about something that's related

to my identity and I really just delved right in, stayed with it since.

short-lived, but I had such a great time there, digital LGBTQ magazine. And now I'm freelance,

1:35.6

but it's interesting because now that LGBT stuff is more mainstream than therefore I got

hired by mainstream outlets to cover LGBT things. So it's been an interesting trajectory, something I did not anticipate, but I have a regular gig writing about TV for The New York Times, which is cool. And then I do some other different title I do music stuff for, which that ends up being a lot of queer stuff. You know, at Bustle, I'm doing like a WNBA thing. So I'm just staying in the queer sort of world, but like in a mainstream space now. So it's been a, it's been an interesting journey. Oh, my God, how cool. That is so great. So did you write about the World Cup at all when it just happened? I did not write about the World Cup. I actually just tried to write about the game yesterday. Oh, yeah, yeah. The US women's team was just at doing their victory tour. So I went to the game. Oh, you did. Yeah, I had a great time. I tried to get in there to get press, but I think I was a little too late because I didn't get my assignment from Bison to like two days before. I think they'd already cut it out. But I'm hoping to write something about the soccer gals because and after all when we used to do like vague sports reporting
