I think it's safe to say that many in the church don't feel like they fit the

standard Latter-day Saint mold. In my years as a religious educator I can't tell

you how many different people have come up to me at times and said something like

I'm not your average Latter-day saint or they've prefaced something with well my situation's a little bit different than normal. The problem is there's no normal way to be

a Latter-day saint. None of us are coming from the same situations, but all of us are coming to the same savior.

In the October 2019 General Conference, Sister Michelle Craig of the General

Young Women's Presidency said,

Latter-day Saints come in many shapes and sizes,

but all are alikeen to God.

Black and white, bond and free, male and female,

single and married, rich and poor, young and old, lifelong

member and recent convert. No matter who you are or what you're dealing with,

you are invited to the Lord's table.

Well, Professor Eric Huntsman is a classically trained Greek-speaking professor of ancient scripture here at BYU. Oh, I forgot to tell you he also sings in the

Tabernacle Choir he's a multi-talented guy. He recently wrote a great book

called Becoming a Beloved disciple, analyzing how the Gospel of

John highlights different types of people who come from different situations and

how they all choose to come unto Christ.

You know, I lay out these different characters,

those who have typical walks of faith where they get their testimony

from the witness of another.
