The position that I take is not the lesser of two evils, Democratic Party, sheepdogging

politics where you're like, we can't do anything. There's no choice. Therefore, just line up

and vote blue no matter who. And that's it. The strategic project is one that recognizes this is

where we want to get, but is very clear about this is where

we are. And it asked the difficult question of how you get from there to here, particularly when

here isn't somebody who's on the ballot. It's not what's on offer. And you know that where you

currently are, the left is, as we've been

saying, dominated by the capitalist ruling classes managers. And so I think that the first

most important thing in a strategic approach to politics is we need to build powerful organizations

of by and for the people, unions, associations,

parties, et cetera. That has to be the overwhelming majority of our focus.

Elections are the ways that the capitalist ruling class manages the population by creating a spectacle in which they

tell the people that they have power while we know from the important study done at Princeton

that we even touched on, I think last time, if I'm not mistaken, says that every leftist favorite

study. Exactly. We don't really have power in this country. And so the question then really becomes

about, well, if every four years for five seconds you're voting, what do you do during those five

seconds, right? So it's actually a very small part of the political spectrum of, I think,

what you should be doing. I also think that elections in this country

have, in recent history, all been determined by swing states, about five of them. And so if you're in a

non-swing state and you're progressive and you're invested in building alternative power,

then I think the choice is pretty clear. You should figure out exactly what your
