Summary

My friend Kory Koontz (married father of 5) joins us to share his story in the hopes that his journey in life will help others. Kory bravely talks about figuring out his sexuality (he is bisexual), serving a mission, getting married and divorced, feeling suicidal, staying active in the Church, dealing with pornography, getting remarried, working through bipolar 2 and using God-given talents. Kory is very brave and vulnerable in sharing his story—which he is doing in hopes that is will help others. Thank you, Kory, for being on the podcast and your gospel insights to bring hope and healing.

So I'm grateful to have you on the podcast. Corey is joining us via Zoom from his home in West Jordan. And I'll give you a little background on Corey and then what he's going to talk about. He is 60 years old, recently turned 60. He's married as five kids. He is bisexual. He will talk a little bit

1:40.6

This is vulnerable and takes courage, but this is the right platform for that,

1:45.0

as other guests have done the same thing. So with that, Corey, I'll kind of turn it over to you

1:49.9

to start wherever you want to start. Okay. Well, thanks, Richard. What I'd like to do is just

1:56.1

share a little bit about my background. I grew up in Southern California, and my biggest fear growing up is that

2:04.2

that I was going to be gay. I mean, I was teased as a child. I was called names. I was, I was

2:10.6

reduced by my own father. He used to call me cissy and queer and all these little things,

2:17.4

just when I was younger, and he used to beat the cissy and queer and all these little things just when I was
