Summary

Firing someone is never easy... but sometimes, it's necessary.

In today's episode, we'll talk about the key signs it might be time to fire an employee, whether it's due to a lack of competency, poor alignment with your company culture, or just that gut feeling that something isn't working.

I'll also share my own experiences with hiring missteps, the emotional tug-of-war that comes with tough decisions, and how I've learned to navigate them as a leader. This episode is here to give you clarity, confidence, and maybe even the permission you need to protect your business and honor your vision.

I'm excited to chat with you today about kind of a heavy topic. But we're going to be talking today about like three ways that you could perhaps know when it's time for you to fire someone. And nobody likes to fire anybody. Can I just say that first of all? None of us enjoy that, whether it's letting them go because of workload or letting

0:56.4

them go because of performance or letting them go because you just realized you picked the wrong

1:01.0

person or whatever it is. Like none of us love to have those hard conversations. And yet,

1:10.2

when you are a business owner, hiring people is often a very real part of you

1:16.9

just being a business owner. It's like, unless you're going to be a one-man band forever,

1:21.0

and if you are, you're going to stay small. It's just the way it is. I don't know anybody,

1:25.1

not one single person who I have coached over the million dollar mark,

1:29.1

let's just say that, who does not have at least an assistant or a project manager or a VA,

1:37.7

a virtual assistant or something. So if it's just you and your business, let me just tell you,

1:43.0

you have got to be hiring some people, first of all.

1:45.0

Okay, but that's a total another podcast episode.

1:47.3

Today I actually want to talk about firing someone.

1:49.7

And Lord knows I don't do this perfectly, but I do feel like I have learned how to do it decently well.

1:58.2

And I think that's a different podcast episode also.
