Worse, the French no longer controlled any part of Tunisia as General Ernst Gouse,

Rommel's former chief of staff, had flown in and took over.

Lastly, General Naring was out, replaced by the efficient but cruel, Colonel General Juergen von Armin,

hardened by the fighting on the Eastern Front. Meanwhile, the Allied General Anderson had his own plans

to renew the fighting on December 9th, but now he would be starting two steps back.
