On this episode of Neutral World, with the 70th anniversary of the mutual defense treaty

between the United States and South Korea that bound together our security intercept the

Korean War, which ended with a ceasefire, I wanted to devote an episode on South Korea

and our longstanding relationship with them.

And I should say, my dad fought in Korea in 1953, went back later as a career soldier,

and was part of the defense system and the Speaker of the House, I've visited Korea many

times.

So I'm fascinated, and I'm really pleased to welcome my guest, Kelly Vlahos, senior advisor

to the Quincy Institute and editorial director of Responsible Statecraft.

And we're going to chat about South Korean President Jung Suk-Yul's visit to the United States.

I'm a newspaper person by profession.

I've been working in news and magazines for many, many years.

But in recent times, I've been gravitating towards foreign policy.

So I've been writing about foreign policy, civil liberties, veterans issues, national security.

For some time, I was at FoxNews.com.

For a while, American conservative.

I edited the American conservative website for several years.
