Summary
Today my guest is Rory Linkletter. He just ran in the Paris Olympics in the marathon. This was his first Olympic team for Team Canada, which is very exciting. He qualified for the Olympics running a 2:08:01, just nine seconds faster than the Olympic standard at the Sevilla Marathon. This race made him the second fastest Canadian of all time over the marathon distance. So amazing to see Rory’s career take off over the past few years!!
Rory has been working with Ryan Hall as his coach leading up to the Olympic Games. Before that, he was with NAZ Elite under Ben Rosario, and he also was coached by Ed Eyestone in college when he ran for BYU. In this episode, we hear about those three different coaching styles and what those coaches meant to him. He is transitioning from being coached by Ryan Hall to looking for a new coach and he shares about what he is looking for in a coach in this episode.
Since Rory was last on the podcast, he’s had two kids added to his family. He talks about that transition and what that’s been like training at a high level and being a dad.
He recently announced he’ll be running the New York City Marathon, which is really exciting. So we talk about that and the decision that he made to do that. So excited to cheer him on at that race and see what he does!
