Summary

My friend Sadi Rogers (age 32, EMT, mother of 3) shares her story as a gay Latter-day Saint. Sadi talks about growing up in Arizona, realizing she has romantic feelings for women, being honest with her Bishop and eventually marrying a man. Sadi talks about the goodness of that marriage (lasted 11 years) which eventually ended. Sadi then talks about her desire to be single and fully participate in the Church. That changed when Sadi met and then fell in love with her now wife Quinn Kelly—including personal revelation this was her path. While I invite everyone to follow Church teachings, I share stories of LGBTQ Latter-day Saints on their own unique paths to help us better support others. Neither Sadi or I are inviting others to follow Sadi’s path—but we are inviting us to come together as the same human family to love and support each other and leave judgement to our Savior and His perfect understanding. 0:40.3	story. Some would wonder why me, an active committed Latter-day Saint, would have a couple
0:47.5	and a same-sex marriage on the podcast. And it's a fair question. And I do this to try to bring
0:54.0	us together as the same human family
0:56.1	and to find unity within that human family, even in diversity,
1:01.3	as people choose different paths,
1:04.6	but to still preserve the relationship, preserve the family circle.
1:09.9	And Sadie's path is a path that might be a path that people that are
1:16.4	gay and lesbian are exploring. And I think it's okay for them to hear stories as they're trying
1:22.4	to write their own story. Neither Sadie or I are inviting people into a same-sex marriage. I invite people to follow
1:30.8	the teachings of the church, but if they self-determined that this is their best path forward,
1:36.0	I'll walk with them and I'll support them and I'll recognize that side of the teachings
