Hello everyone, welcome to the Outlander Podcast. I'm Matt Roberts and this is episode 509. As you see it was

written by Shannon Fuel and yeah this was this was a big episode for us it was really

challenging is what it was some of the behind the scenes things we'll get into as we go.

But yeah, the challenge of finding Buffalo in the UK was was tough on us to put the sequence together.

I think this was a one of the most important episodes of the season when it comes to the story and we had a lot going on the script when we were putting it together in the room we knew that this was

going to be a big turning point in the Jamie Roger storyline and when you when you look at the arc of the season you know

that some stories have to feed other stories and we knew that

going forward that they would kind of dove, the Roger Jamie story would kind of dovetail right here.

And so we knew it was going to be important and we wanted to allow enough time in the

schedule, the filming schedule, to spend a lot of time on those scenes. Once again, we always run into light and night and day issues and we knew a lot of those scenes were going to take place at night.

So we want to make sure there was enough time in the schedule to have for Sam and Richard to really dig into the performances.

This is a great little scene in the beginning of the episode to show, it shows a lot of comfort where everybody is, you know, at the time, we had to time jump quite a bit in this season more so than almost any other season.

You know, season one was fairly consistent, you know, we didn't make massive jumps in years or months,

season one, two, three, and really even four. Season five, we started to go, okay, we need need to we need to make some leaps. I like parts of

this scene that I actually like the whole scene but parts of this scene really jump out is when when

Jamie comes in and how uncomfortable he feels is I mean I think Sam really portrays it on his face, how uncomfortable

he is to walk into his daughter's house and see that they're not dressed and you know

he catches him he catches him out I don't know who feels more awkward Jamie or or Roger and Bree anyway the balance I think one of the fun things to do is to find the balance of the humor in the show because there's so much humor in the books that you want to portray but humor is one of those things.

What you might think is funny, I might not and what a thousand or a million other people might think is you know individually

funny someone else might so what I laugh at in the books and what you know Merrill or Tony or any you know
