Here is Congressman Newt Gingrich, General Chairman of GOPAC.

I'm going to be a little bit professorial.

You know, I was a college teacher in those certain habits you can't get out of, and I

really have thought a long time about this opportunity because I think you are all collectively

very, very important.

You are the leadership of this party in one of the great regions of this country.

And so I want to share with you where I think we're at and where I think we have to go.

And it's going to be a little bit complicated.

And I'm going to ask you to sort of stay with me for a couple of minutes because it's not

going to be just your standard political speech.

I'm going to be a little professor, they wouldn't let me have a test afterwards, but I'm

going to try not to be quite as dry as a lecturer.

I want to talk from the heart.

And I want to say things I've never said before.

I really worked on to make this speech today to share with you and it's things that I've

talked with Liawater about in general, and I've talked with some people at the White

House about.

But I haven't really had a chance to try to put it all into a package.

And it's partly starts with the experience that the Jim and others gave me of being

allowed to serve as the whip and having the viewpoint of being the second leading

Republican in the House in terms of leadership and working as closely as we do with President

Bush and Johnson, and New New Endowment, and that interacting in the works with Jim
