I'm into the last week now and, as often happens on hikes, the end is coming too quickly for me.

I've thoroughly enjoyed myself on this trip and rediscovered it in a way that I didn't

experience it the first time. That's not to say that I enjoyed it any less with my Emma,

but I've experienced this in such a different way. The feeling of community, particularly in the

first half of the hike, was very powerful for me. And though I'm not

experienced so much of that community since I rejoined the trail in Lyon, there are still moments

that scratch that community itch for me. And that's becoming more and more important, the more and more

our hike. Today we're going to have four days to talk about, as well as a conversation with Beth

and Andrew, as they are now passing, McAfee Knob and into Daleville and beyond.

So let's get going and start with day number 25.

Day 25.

Astorga, mile 319.9 to Rabinal del Cam Camino, mile 32.3, a 12.4 mile day.

One of the downsides of staying in a hotel or an apartment is that you're not among other pilgrims.

Consequently, when you want to go out to find something to eat, you feel almost like a stalker

searching around for fellow pilgrims with whom to sit.

I wrapped up the podcast and the call to my lawyer at around 8.30pm.

I was pretty confident I could find something to eat in the plaza that I had sat in earlier

in the day.

Unfortunately, I saw nobody I recognised.
