Hello, and welcome back to another episode of the feminist Mormon Housewives podcast.

I'm your host, Lindsay, bringing you another episode in the Year of Polygamy series,

where we use this time spending the entire year 2014 trying to uncover, untangle, and understand

the practice of Mormon polygamy and see how it affects our

lives today. Today we're going to be talking about the history of relief society. I've been wanting

to do this for a long, long time, but it required a lot of research and a lot of study because

there's a lot of information. In fact, I'm, I'm toying with the idea of next year doing a series on the history of relief society because there's a lot of information. In fact, I'm, I'm, I'm toying with the idea of

next year doing a series on the history of Relief Society because there are so, so many

important things that we need to talk about. This is just going to be a primer. I have, I've been

bugging Jill D.L Durr to come on the podcast, so hopefully I can get her to come on the podcast

because she literally has written the book

or contributed to writing the book about the history of the relief study. And I've got some other

great scholars lined up, so hopefully we can talk about that. But I just wanted to give this

episode as a primer to help you understand, because it's absolutely tied to polygamy. It's a huge part of

the history of polygamy. And while we're not going to be addressing polygamy specifically and directly,

it is very much a part of this. Another thing I want to say is I was at the D.I. Desert Industries

and I always look for books there.
