The Oh, For Lisa and Dave Medill, December 1st, 2014, marked the beginning of a never-ending nightmare.

Their 25-year-old daughter was missing.

Shannon, who was the youngest of their four children, had failed to show up for a planned

outing with her older brother, Brett, which was unusual, but not completely out of character

for her.

But when no one from the close-knit family heard from Shannon in over 24 hours, they became concerned.

Text messages from her parents and siblings went unanswered.

Calls made to her cell phone went straight to her voicemail.

Trying not to assume the worst, Shannon's family came up with various scenarios

for why she had missed the night out with her brother, and why she had missed the night out with her brother and why she

wasn't answering the phone. It wasn't until the family was finally able to get in

touch with Shannon's estranged husband, Josh Burgess, that they knew

it was time to file a missing person's report.

Shannon, who was living with Josh at the time, wasn't home. Josh indicated he hadn't

seen Shannon in a few days, but told them that her car was parked in the driveway and her wallet and phone were still

at the house.

Immediately, all of the possible scenarios of where Shannon might be didn't appear so possible anymore.
