All right, I want to talk about intervention today, both intervention in itself and the show intervention.

You know, this is something we don't get into that often as high-functioning alcoholics, but

a few weeks ago I went to a panel featuring Ken Seely from the show Intervention.

I don't know about you all, but I used to love watching Intervention.

I especially loved watching while drinking and

after a while it kind of became my Sunday evening routine to drink martinis

and watch recorded episodes of intervention because hey my drinking wasn't as bad as those

people right? I was using the traditional stigma to make me feel better about my own problem and

I knew I had a problem I just wasn't ready to accept it yet.

So when a friend invited me to this panel,

I was happy to come and listen and also got to meet a bunch of people

in the recovery and treatment industry beforehand.

First and foremost, I love networking with other people in recovery because there is zero small

talk. It's like, hi, how are you? Tell me all the reasons why you're

fucked up. A lot of people asked me what I do for a living and when I told them

about the podcast and that this world, the world of interventions and emergency treatment for near death addicts and

alcoholics everything we were talking about that night isn't what I deal

with because so many of my listeners fall into the

high-functioning and gray area categories. I almost felt like this was

information I'd never really come close to needing.
