Hello and welcome to Maximum Film, episode 436. I'm your host, Kevin Avery, and joining me as always. He's a film critic and

author, and let's all be gentle with him, as I'm sure he's going through severe Christmas

withdrawal. It's Alonzo Dural Day. What's good? I'll tell you, Kevin, this was a December

like none other. I was running around like a madman, and I didn't get to indulge in a lot of the Christmas

stuff that I normally would have.

And I also was very late to the game on Heated Rivalry, which of course I know was

Dreya's what's good while I was gone because Dreya invented letter, Kenny.

No one else is allowed to be into it, you know, unless she gives the okay.

Those are the rules. But I did catch up with it during that blessed week of nothing between

Christmas and New Year's and I'm a huge fan, of course. So my what's good is the heated

rivalry meme industrial complex, which has taken over my Instagram feed. There is so much meming for

this show and so much commentary and adulation and discussion of what it all means and

parsing of things and, you know, talk about the cottage. It's just, it's all there. I'm loving every,

every drop of it. So the show itself is this extraordinary, as I'm sure Drea went into detail.

But I just, I love the, the outpouring of fan love. And I also love these sort of analyses of how,

how, you know, heated rivalry and K-pop demon hunters defy the algorithm.

Like no one in a room thought, ah, yes, this is going to take America by storm.

And yet they did.

And what does that mean and what can we glean from it and all that good stuff?

So all of, yes, all of the surrounding, you know, praise and excitement and feedback, the feedback loop of heated rivalry.
