your attention in this episode. Many of you will probably be familiar with the Christian

practice of paying a tithe. So the word tithe comes from old English. It literally means one-tenth.

So historically, traditionally, the practice of tithing has meant paying one-tenth of your

goods, of your belongings, of your earnings to the church, to sustain the church, whatever church

that is that you belong to. In this episode, I want to talk about a little bit different kind of tithing practice that in my personal experience has been really powerful.

And this is not competing with or mutually exclusive to the traditional kind of tithing that many Christians pay and practice throughout the world.

But when I say tithe your attention, what I mean is that in a traditional tithing practice,

we take 10% of our goods, 10% of our earnings, and we give them back to our spiritual source,

the source of our spiritual food and sustenance.

When we tithe our attention, we are choosing to attend to whatever it is in our life that is the source of our spiritual support.

It's that simple. So let me give you a few examples. Some people will pay attention to the sacred texts of their tradition.

And that would be a form of tithing your attention.

You're paying attention to that which is the source of your spiritual food,

your sustenance.

Another good example is nature practice.

You get out into nature, you empty your mind, you open your heart,

and you just feel yourself in nature.

This would be another example of just connecting deeply with your spiritual source

by paying attention to it.
