On Saturday, the 17th of April, 1680, Captain's Bartholomew Sharp, Richard Salkins, John Coxon, Peter Harris,

Edmund Cook, and John Cook, fitted their canoes with powder, shot, water, and what provisions they could carry and headed downriver from Santa Maria.

Last time, we discussed their departure and the perilous journey of Basel Ringrose.

Now the two main factors in Ring Rose's tumultuous journey were his canoe, first of all, which was poorly made and too heavy,

and their lack of a kuna guide.

But the rest of the pirates, including all of the captains as well as William Dampier and

Lionel Wafer, they fared far better.

Their canoes were much more maneuverable and far less cumbersome.
