Not the actual theater, though that's high on my list of things to do in 2021 if and when things return to some degree of normalcy.

No, today we're heading to the movies by way of the radio for a recreation of a classic big screen noir drama.

It's not only a great mystery. It also boasts a terrific dramatic performance from a comedy legend

from early in her career.

released in 1946, The Dark Corner tells the story of Private I Brad Galt, working in New York after serving a two-year prison stint in San Francisco.

Galt had been framed by his former partner,

and it seems the man has returned to take care of Galt once and for all.

It's only with the help of Kathleen, his loyal secretary, that Galt can hope to get to the bottom of things and avoid being framed and sent back to prison.

The dark corner was directed by Henry Hathaway. He'd continue to play in the

noir sandbox with movies like Kiss of Death and Call Northside 777.

In the 60s, he'd work with John Wayne on Classic Westerns, including the one that's arguably

Wayne's best performance in true grit. The Dark Corner starred Lucille Ball as Kathleen.
