This fourth episode comes at a dramatic time for Europe, as after decades, war is raging again

in the continent.

So in the most tragic way, a piece of Sedefop

research becomes even more topical. It has been for many years, as hundreds of thousands of asylum

seekers from the Middle East have risked and many lost their lives crowding Europe's sea and land borders.

Now a wave of refugees, unprecedented in living memory, are fleeing the war in Ukraine. And this is posing some even more urgent

questions as to how Europe can best deal with extending humanitarian protection to those in need.

Could the European Union combine protection with jobs? Could it help a number of refugees achieve

self-reliance through gainful employment

by matching their existing skills with labour market demand in any of its 27 member states? And how?

This, in layman's terms, is the gist of a research project carried out by Sedefop, bearing

the title Adult Refugee Legal Mobility.

Ramona Carmen David Kraescu and Janis Katsikis are the two SEDEFOP experts behind this pioneering project and a number of related publications.
