Summary

If you’re a baby and you’re reading this, you’re probably a genius.  Congratulations Baby Genius!  If you’re older than a baby, you’ve probably taken part in some sort of emergency preparedness drill.  A fire drill, earthquake drill, tornado drill, or some other exercise so that you can be ready if the worst happens.  Hopefully you never need to use what you learn in these drills, but most of us would agree that it’s a good idea to be ready just in case. What you probably haven’t done, is make a plan if the worst happens with your healthy habits.  This week, Catherine and Donald talk about the importance of practicing and having a plan in a habit emergency so that you don’t just keep digging yourself into a deeper hole when things get difficult.  Plus, Catherine looks forward to Public Service Announcements, Donald is not sailing away, and we sure could use Dick Van Dyke again.

0:31.6

I've lost over 100 pounds and kept it off for over seven years.

0:34.9

And today with me is Building Emergency Response Team

0:38.4

Site Coordinator. Donald Weigel. I am also, in addition to being the Building Emergency

0:45.5

Response Team Site Coordinator, I am also one of the hosts of the show. I have lost about

0:49.9

100 pounds. I've kept it off for coming up on eight years, I think. And we are here to talk about it.

0:56.9

We are. And I am actually grateful that Donald is actually responsible for an entire building of people and their safety.

1:05.4

Yeah. He's updating defibrillators. He's doing fire drills and CPR training. Yeah, took CPR training,

1:15.4

fire extinguisher training, first aid training. We even have, don't we have a fire blanket somewhere?

1:20.2

We have a fire blanket. We have fire extinguishers, which I have made sure are up to date.

1:26.5

You know, I need to, you know, when you have safety things, like when you're on airplanes,

1:31.3

or when there's literally a fire blanket, as I remember it, in our kitchen pantry.

1:36.6

Yeah.

1:37.2

Like, I'm like, ah, Donald knows how to do it.

1:40.7

Like, it's fine.

1:41.7

I'll just, I'm good with him just knowing stuff. Well, I got to say I mostly got it because I was worried that our daughter couldn't lift the fire extinguisher, even though it's not that heavy. Maybe calling her a baby weakling is not maybe the best like affirmation that we could give. Like I can't remember who started the baby weakling thing.

2:04.1

Look, I haven't called her that in years.

2:06.2

Okay, well, we'll save that for later.
