bombarded uh every week by email and i always reply personally but i thought you know this week

maybe i would actually live up to the promise of reading some of these. So if you have just a

moment, let's jump on this real quickly. I've got listener Sherry C. I don't have permission

to use her full name of Redwood City. She writes about AI, our conversation last week, which I've got to

say was a little bit truncated, but she

writes, as you discussed AI, David seemed to say that it's a joke. Does he mean it won't destroy

jobs or the economy or unleash killer robots? Or does he just think the free versions are a joke

if work is fundamental to human flourishing. How should we think about AI for what

it's worth? I think most AI could with appropriate inputs run California far better than its

politicians. Well, there's like five questions there. I'm going to do each one of them one at a time.

Do I think AI will destroy the economy? No. Do I think AI is going to unleash killer robots?

Unfortunately, no. Do I think it will destroy jobs? It certainly will destroy jobs as all progress does.
