And the Ladies and gentlemen welcome to oral presentations episode 39 the curse of the

exorcist this is going to be I mean you don't really need your like learning

caps on real hard today but uh I mean I think this counts as film

history if I'm gonna be I'm gonna try to make an excuse for why it why it's okay to like

eh this ain't like learning learning this isn't bridges but you know it's film history what are you going to do

because there's the exorcist and the the production of the movie the exorcist is I mean there is a

rumor that the whole thing was cursed there's a number of accidents that happened it was like the

Magneto Gorska film sets it wasn't that bad not it wasn't a gorsk bad but it wasn't good and because of the subject matter of the movie

Like once a couple bad things started happening and then

You know some of the cast of crew started talking about like it's kind of

weird we're making a movie about the devil and then like I don't know that guy lost a

thumb huh it was pretty weird so the whole atmosphere was kind of everybody who worked

on it even was just a little I mean there was a couple people who were agnostic who didn't have didn't believe it at all and just kind of thought it was funny

But I mean the lead actress who played the mom Ellen Burston I mean she still talks about how like she really believes I mean I

watched a couple interviews with her and she seems pretty adamant that like there

was something weird going on there and the movie Exorcist I was thinking about whether or not I'm still, I'm like embarrassed to this, but yeah, I'm a really scared of that movie. Like my whole life since I saw it. I've been scared of that movie. I remember we watched it in, I was in like seventh grade and we went to this this girl's house it was like a

guy girl hang out so I was inherently super fucking nervous but I also was like I

remember there being like we're gonna watch the exorcist and like on the outside being like yeah nice but on the inside be like damn I wish we

were just playing a frisbee or something how the fuck am I gonna make it

through this movie because I had seen like chunks of it because I'd always been scared of

it because I came up when I was like young I went to church a lot on Sundays like pretty regular and it was like a big deal and like I'm not bragging but I am confirmed into the Catholic Church dude which if you don't know in that religion you just like go to CCD and I don't really know exactly how it works but I just went to CCD for a while and then in like eighth grade they were like you get to pick like a name if you want one and so you get like a confirmation name. I pick Patrick because that was a remember in that guy's story he was just fucking fighting snakes so I was like dude

go and Patrick this guy's fighting serpents that's what I'm talking about.
