This week we're going to be talking to rapper Brother Ali about how he came off of a five-year

hiatus from making music to produce his most recent album, and we're going to respond to some listener mail.

If you see something, you better, you better say something.

Nothing at all, nothing at all.

So Brother Ali is a Midwestern rapper who's been on the scene for over a decade and a half.

He's just released his first album in five years, All the Beauty in This Whole Life,

and by his own admission, it's a much more spiritual album.

And he credits that to what he's been doing during the break, studying and developing relationships

with this very popular group of American traditionalist scholars who are conversant in traditional

Islamic learning but also can talk academia and liberation

theology. And we wanted to catch up with him about that experience. Welcome, Brother Ali. Thank you.
