On this episode of Newt's World, on December 9th, 2021, when most of us were getting ready for the upcoming holidays,

the town of Yuma, Arizona was facing a tough challenge, the surge of migrants crossing the U.S. Mexico border.

Yuma's mayor Douglas Nichols announced a state of emergency over the border crisis.

In October and November of 2020, U.S. Customs and Border Protection encountered 1,777 people illegally crossing the border into human.

In 2021, that number grew to 44,512 in the same two month period,

a staggering 2,405% increase and mayor Nichols expects more than 250,000 migrants to cross the border into Yuma in 2022.
