Summary

How do we bring forth a heart of redemption in the broken systems of this world? What is our responsibility as believers when it comes to healing the racial divide and systemic injustices?Latasha Morrison is passionate about helping Christians be at the forefront of racial healing. As an author, speaker, and founder of Be the Bridge, an equipping organization that helps individuals and groups in taking steps towards racial reconciliation, Lastasha has taught people what it means to confront the ways in which we as a culture and as a people have harmed others because of their race. Her work has brought both awareness and actionable ways for people to reach across racial lines and heal together. Her latest book, Brown Faces, White Spaces: Confronting Systemic Racism to Bring Healing and Restoration, looks at the ways in which our systems hold deeply entrenched beliefs that need to be rooted out so that there can be justice and fairness for all. In this conversation, Aubrey talks with Latasha about why it is so important to have a heart of reconciliation as believers, the way racism within systems continues to impact people to this day, and how our hope must remain in God and not people. If you've ever wondered if we can truly experience racial healing and reconciliation, this episode will encourage you that it is possible and that we each have a role and responsibility to step into this conversation with compassion, empathy, and a heart bent towards healing the racial division that exists.   Website: https://latashamorrison.com/ www.bethebridge.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/latashamorrison/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/latashamorrison Book: Brown Faces, White Spaces: Confronting Systemic Racism to Bring Healing and Restorationhttps://a.co/d/gVUMpq6 Learn more about a Certified Nothing is Wasted Coach can help you in your healing journey: nothingiswasted.com/coaching Learn more about The Healing Leader Roundtable on March 6th in Indianapolis here: nothingiswasted.com/roundtable Want to see healing and life transformation after the pain you've encountered? Hey guys, Davey here. Before we dive into this conversation, I just want to take a minute and share

0:04.4

about one of our life-changing initiatives that were beginning this year. And I want to really share

0:11.7

a personal story with you. Really, this is the origin story of our Nothing As Wasted Coaching Program.

0:17.6

When my wife Amanda passed away, one of the things I was believing at the time was that

0:22.1

nobody could understand what I was going through. I didn't quite know or really grab a hold of

0:28.4

that First Peter 5 verse that says, let's not forget that saints all over the world are suffering

0:32.7

in the same way that we are. And I know you probably understand that experience if you're going

0:36.8

through your own pain because grief is an isolating experience on its own. But when you go through something earth

0:42.6

shattering, it's especially difficult to find support that truly makes a difference because they

0:47.2

truly know what you're going through because they've actually been there themselves.

0:51.5

At the same time, I also believe that if I could find the right support,

0:55.4

then I'd find hope, and that hope would carry me through. And then during the deepest, darkest

0:59.8

pain of my life, Todd walked in. I met Todd in the reception line at Amanda's funeral. Lots of old

1:06.8

friends and family had come into town, but he was someone I didn't recognize, and he came up to me

1:11.4

and he said, hey, Davey, you don't know me. You're probably not going to remember this, but in two

1:16.5

weeks, I'm going to reach out to you. I'd love to have a conversation with you. My name's Todd Irb,

1:20.4

and my wife and daughter were murdered a couple of years ago. All of a sudden, I was face to face with someone who'd been through the exact same

1:28.0

nightmare that I was currently living. And two weeks later, Trudeau's word, we were sitting across

1:33.1

from each other at Starbucks. He said, Davy, I know everything you're feeling and going through

1:36.8

right now. And I know what you're going to go through, from the emotional side of things to the

1:41.6

relational side, to the legal side.

1:48.9

And that conversation and that relationship that followed changed everything for me.
