Hello again, patrons, and thank you for supporting the History of the Crusades podcast.

Last time we saw a form of monarchy introduced to Munster.

Within a relatively short period of time, the city of Munster had evolved from a conservative

Catholic town to a rebellious hotbed of Anabaptism, to a proto-communist place with communal

ownership of property, to now a royal town with King Jan von Leiden,

who has been crowned not just King of Munster, but King of the World,

lauding it over the citizens of Munster from his lavishly appointed royal court,

set up to house himself and his 16 wives.

Now, if you are feeling a sort of whiplash from the rapid and radical forms of government

coming and going inside Munster, spare a thought for the residents of the town.

While the spectacle of King Yarn appears comical and certainly provides fabulous content

for a podcast nearly 500 years after the events took place, it was no laughing matter for the Anabaptists of Munster.
