And I have a perfect guest to talk about this today.

Andreas Plaquist is a Vanderbilt-trained cardiac anesthesiologist and a creator and host of the

first of its kind, perioperative transesophageal

echo podcast called TEE Time, which I highly recommend you check out. Of course, we'll have links in the show notes.

He's a board certified anesthesiologist, also cardiac anesthesiologist, and he's board certified

in advanced perioperative transesophageal echo and critical care echo and in full-time clinical practice in Arkansas. He trained at Vanderbilt, as I said, and now practices near his family in Arkansas. I'm thrilled to have him on the show. Andreas, welcome to Agrak. Well, thanks so much for having me. It's great to be here. So tell me a little bit about you, how you got interested in TEE, not just as any old cardiac

anesthesiologist who, you know, of course, is going to use it, but how did you develop an interest

that took you all the way to starting a podcast about it? Tell me a little bit about that.

Yeah, so TE has been a passion of mine for a number of years. I think specifically as it relates

to the podcast, it dates back to

the start of my cardiac anesthesia fellowship at Vanderbilt. At that time, what's unique about

cardiac surgical cases is, in addition to prepping for all the other things like anesthesia

considerations or surgical considerations, you need to learn how to use TEE to help in those cases,

such as what to do in the pre-bypass period when you're on cardiopulmonary bypass or in the

post-bypass period. During fellowship, one thing I had difficulty with was finding concise,

high-yield resources to help me prepare for TEEE during those cases.
