| 0:00.0 | You |
| 0:24.8 | Hey guys, welcome to the Fieldcraft two survival podcast |
| 0:27.7 | This is Amber L and today I am joined by the lovely Dana Monroe. You may recognize her face from the work she does with Black Rifle Coffee, but she is such a big influence in the women's world. |
| 0:42.7 | I am getting the women's world of hunting and self-reliance. Sorry. I am getting to know her really for the first time. |
| 0:48.7 | I have been introduced to her by our team and I think that the work she does is incredible. We have some things coming up where we get to work together. |
| 0:58.7 | We wanted to take this time to get to know each other better live with the studio audience. Why wouldn't people want to get to know each other that way? |
| 1:06.7 | For all of you guys to get to know her too as we move into some programs that we will be doing with her in the future. |
| 1:16.7 | I love that you created your own segue into the hunting world and you were able to do... I am sure you found moments where you were intimidated. |
| 1:32.7 | I feel like that is the word that comes up a lot for women that I hear from is the intimidation factor. |
| 1:38.7 | Hunting is kind of like ranching or farming where you have the legacy component and people feel so ill-equipped if they don't have that legacy factor involved in it. |
| 1:48.7 | But that can look so different and nuanced for so many people. |
| 1:53.7 | It is not a requirement but people feel very threatened and intimidated if they don't have that. You created that for yourself and now you want to create that for other women. I think that is incredible. What did that look like for you? |
| 2:09.7 | The main roadblocks you felt like you had to get through? |
| 2:13.7 | When I first started getting into hunting, you said I didn't grow up doing it and I think I was in my mid-20s when I started hunting. |
| 2:23.7 | I had no idea how to even start. I didn't know how to apply for tags. I didn't know how to buy bonus points or even acquire a hunting license. |
| 2:37.7 | My dad did hunt. He hunted. I looked to him for a lot of help for some of the basics. But I didn't live near him and his health was heading into a direction where he wasn't really able to take me in the field. |
| 2:53.7 | I looked to friends and others but being a female, some of my male friends, they were like, I can't take you hunting because my wife would not allow me to take a cute little 20 year old hunting with me. |
| 3:07.7 | That was a huge obstacle for me. I wanted to go with somebody that knew what they were doing so I could learn because that's the best way that I learned is just hands on. |
| 3:27.7 | That's how I have to learn. I scoured the internet for all of the information that I could read. I read everything you can read about hunting but that only does so much. |
| 3:43.7 | I had an application that I struggled with in the beginning and just kind of found friends. I moved to Colorado and found some friends that let me tag along with them on hunting trips and just kind of learned everything I could from everybody I could. |
| 4:04.7 | I was out and spent as much time in the field as possible even if I wasn't the one hunting, even if I was tagging along, I've learned so much from other people just being there. |
| 4:14.7 | Just through observation for sure. |
