Hello and welcome back to Agrak. I'm Jed Walpaw and I am thrilled to have a fabulous show for you today. We're going to do an update and further exploration of a topic that we delved into a few years ago,

and that is dental anesthesia.

And I have with me, Dr. Connor Schmank.

Connor is a board-certified dentist anesthesiologist.

He's adjunct faculty at the Ohio State University College of Dentistry

and the owner of his own mobile

dental anesthesiology practice, where he travels to provide general anesthesia and sedation

for patients of dentists and dental specialists within the dental office. So we're going to

expand on the conversation that I had with Jay Grimes a few years ago and talk about some new

stuff. So I think this will be great. It's really interesting, especially for those not only who are dental anesthesiologists, but also for people who are anesthesiologists doing Nora cases, because there's a lot of overlap. So I'm really excited to have Connor with me. Connor, welcome to the show. Yeah, awesome. Thank you so much, Jed, for having me. I appreciate it. I travel a lot for my work, so I listen to a lot of podcasts, and yours is one of my frequent ones. As I say in radio, long-time listener, first-time caller, so I'm excited to be here. Before we get two started, I believe Friday the 20th, that was your guys' match day. Is that correct?

That is correct. We are recording this on the 24th, so just four days

after match day. Awesome. Congratulations to everybody that matched. That's very exciting and I'm excited

for everybody to get started in anesthesia. That's fantastic and wishing everyone the best.

Yeah, totally agree. We couldn't be happier with our incredible folks we matched, and I hope that's

true for everyone across the country, and especially for folks who matched. I hope you're happy with your match. And I guess since we're talking about it, I'll just say, if anybody's listening who didn't match, hang in there. It's not the end of the world. There are other opportunities, whether that's reapplying in anesthesiology or thinking about a different career. But the world is so full of opportunities and you don't always realize it in the midst of a disappointment. I just did, Connor, you'll appreciate this because I know you have little kids. I just did parent reader for my eight-year-old's class. Like literally, I was just there an hour ago. And one of the books I read them was, oh, the places you'll go by Dr. Seuss. And one of the things I love

about that book, in fact, my parents gave me that book when I graduated college, not that I had never read it before, but they gave it as a college graduation gift because it's so meaningful. And one of the things it talks about is, you know, oh, you're going to do all these great things, but also you're going to fail. You're going to have setbacks. You're going to have difficult times.

And all of that is part of the journey.

So hang in there. If this is one of those difficult times for you, you'll get through it.
