I'm already getting choked up. I'm choked up because today we saw the emergence of a superstar, Kyle Gibson. I knew you were going to say that.

That guy is bad news. Your thoughts on Kyle Gibson's a breakthrough game today. Well, it's been a hell of a week. John and I hosted the fourth and final of our what we're called the Tuesday taproom tour events. We did four different events each month basically during the season. Fair State Co-Up. Yeah. And, you know, 100 and something people come and they drink some beer and they watch a game.

And we watched Tuesday night Kyle Gibson's last time. basically during the season. Fair State co-op. Yeah. And, you know, 100-something people come and they drink some beer and they watch a game.

And we watched Tuesday night Kyle Gibson's last start against the White Sox. Riggle out of a jam in the second inning. You wriggle out of a jam in the third inning and go seven strong. Yeah. It was a very Kyle Gibson. By far his best game of the year. Yeah. But it was shaping up to be a very Gibson-esque start, except for the fact that he kept getting out of the jams.

Right.

And then he turns around and has another, you know, it wasn't a dominant outing today, but it was a good, solid effort, especially for, for Gibson and for kind of what the low bar is for their back half of the rotation at this point. John, John's been, you know, I don't want to say driving. I've been bought that bad wagon for a long time. Yeah, but the van wagon, like, there's no wheels on it at this. It's just a wagon now. It's just like an actual, like one of those, uh, I'm actually just carrying people on my shoulders at this point. The way piggyback rides. Yeah. I mean, look, they, I mean, two guys that they could use who have sort of not, I don't want to say

falling out of favor, but the sort of the shine is off them at this point and they could

really use right now are Gibson and Kenny Vargas.

Right.

And Vargas has not really come through, although he dumped a single for two RBIs today.

But for them to just get anything out of Gibson at this point would be huge, particularly if Mahia is not ready to return from the disabled time soon, which there's no immediate sign that he's going to be there. Well, there is some good news on that front, though. Mejia had a bullpen session on Thursday. He was supposed to have a bullpen session again. That quote went very well, unquote, something like that, right? He was supposed to have another bullpen session a day. I haven't heard how that went. And then I think the next step was a rehab assignment. So, you know, it could be that they are back. I mean, listen, the twins rotation's been a mess all season. But going into September, you know, if, you know, and there's a lot of ifs, you know, if Gibson is any semblance of what we've seen this week, right? You've got Barrios, you've got Santana. If Mejia comes back, you know, doing kind of Mejia-ish kind of things. And Dylan G, we should mention him. He's had a couple of good starts now as a...

Yeah, although I think my guess would be if Gibson keeps pitching anything like this, they're not going to dump Bartolo. Oh, no, no, I'm sorry, Cologne, right. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm sorry. My guess would be that G would go back to sort of that long relief role, which frankly, they really need. which he's pitched that's where he's pitched the best that's right and yes they could use that

um you know it's a it's pitched the best. That's right.

And yes, they could use that. You know, it's a situation where, like you said, they've gone through like 13 or 14, not even to go common man on the bit, but literally 13 or 14. Well, San Diego is still rehabbing, but I would tell him to take his time. I don't, maybe next. The other thing that from a rehab standpoint, they're running out of minor league games.
