His irritation simmered as he cursed the overly plush carpeting beneath his feet with every determined step.

He had been tossing and turning all night without a wink of sleep.

He had no reason to doubt what Mr. Burroughs was implementing into the Pizzaplex's network,

but he had to be sure.

Deep down, Edwin knew he was trying to negotiate with himself through half-baked rationales,

futilely attempting to debate his logical reasoning through technicalities.

The white tiger robot he witnessed, being loaded into the storyteller last night, was not

the white tiger he remembered from his past.

So perhaps, just perhaps, Burroughs hadn't discovered his creation.

Before Edwin could reach Mr. Burroughs' office, he collided with the man himself.

He bounced off the taller man's midsection, just outside the executive washroom,

because men of Mr. Burroughs' stature didn't use pedantic restrooms.

Whoa there, Edwin. Where are you off to in such a hurry?

Edwin, panting at the effort to stay upright on the plushy carpet, caught his breath and wiped his

moist forehead. I was coming to speak to you. Oh, what a joy for me.
