Thank you. The Minds of Madness podcast. Listener discretion is advised. Midway, Utah sits in the Hebrew Valley, just 10 miles south of Park City. It's one of Utah's most desirable corners, a pocket of ski resorts, ranchland, and mountain estates, where homes on

acreage routinely sell for millions. By the end of 2021, one of those midway homes sat empty. It was supposed to become

a multi-million dollar mansion, but construction had stalled before whatever was finished.

What remained was an unfinished shell on some of the most valuable land in the valley. To most people, it looked like a dead

end, but to one person, it looked like a gold mine. 32-year-old Corey Richens was the mother

of three young boys. She also held a master's degree in a real estate license. For the past

couple of years, she'd been running her own

house flipping business. She started out small, but then started to think bigger, taking

on bigger loans, buying more properties, trying to grow as fast as she could. When she found

the Midway Mansion, she believed she'd found the opportunity of her career.

The price tag was steep, nearly $3 million, but she was convinced she could flip it and sell it

for millions more. So she put everything on the line, borrowed every last dime, and was willing to do

whatever it took to make a real estate dreams come
