that primatologist discovered was.

The displaced female rarely directed her aggression toward the male at the center of the conflict.

More often, the hostility shifted sideways toward the second female.

Psychologists studying human jealousy have observed similar dynamics.

Sometimes the relationship itself becomes a battlefield, and eventually somebody gets heard.

Well, in northeastern Massachusetts, there was an unusual love triangle that had been brewing for six years.

A handyman in his mid-50s had spent years moving between two women, building a life with one,

while he carried on a long-running affair with another, and although everyone involved knew about

the arrangement, nobody seemed happy about it. Over time, the triangle settled into a strange

and increasingly bitter coexistence, punctuated by

breakups, reconciliations, off-color nicknames, voodoo dolls, and pages of private anger

poured into notebooks and phones. But by the fall of 2022, the situation finally turned deadly.
