Skeptics from the K is a production of the Merseyside Skeptic Society, a non-profit organisation for the promotion of scientific skepticism on Merseyside around the UK and internationally. I'm your host, Michael. With me today is Marsh. Hello. And Alice. Hello. I forgot how to pronounce the name of the show then. It's just skeptics. You forgot the name of the show.

0:37.8

You forgot what month we're in. Yeah. You retook the intro and still messed it up. It's an absolute shambles. It's ridiculous that we're halfway through this year, by the way. It's absurd that we are halfway through. Yeah, it's insane that we are halfway through 2020. Yes. It's still 2020, right? That hasn't happened yet.

0:34.6

Still haven't got to the end of that year.

0:35.9

It's been March 2020 for a while now.

0:38.3

And 2020. Yes. It's still 2020, right? That hasn't happened yet. Still haven't got to the end of that year. It's been March 2020 for a while now. And all the lockdown restrictions disappeared. That was a case a couple of weeks ago.

1:13.4

I don't know about now.

1:14.4

I believe hospitalisations are rising not as steeply as before, but deaths seem to be significantly

1:19.1

lower than last time.

1:20.3

Yeah.

1:20.6

In terms of a ratio of the number of cases.

1:23.1

Yes, yeah.

1:23.8

Because I think it was six, we're on four to six a day, essentially.

1:27.1

Yeah. So hopefully that does show the impact of the vaccines, even if cases are rising in younger people who are less likely to have morbidity and mortality as a result. Yeah. And of course, the anti-vaxxers are going, looked at as people in the hospital who've had the vaccine, so the vaccine is a waste of time, where it's just, oh, Christ, you don't understand vaccines.

1:45.3

Which is the same problem.

1:46.8

It's the same problem we had with the MMR people, people complaining about flu vaccines.

1:51.6

Anti-vaccers don't understand vaccines.

1:53.8

This is a significant part of the problem.

1:55.8

Yeah, well, I saw, I think who I saw was resharing something from the mother of a 13-year-old boy who died
