This is not democracy.

Being yelled at by Mehdi Hassan and others to force you to vote for this one candidate

and this two-party dictatorship is not democracy.

And it's very, very sad.

And then when you consider the people who don't even vote, there's a significant portion

of the U.S. population does not even come out to vote.

Oftentimes these are poor and working class people.

Maybe they're the people who we should be getting to vote. Oftentimes, these are poor and working class people. Maybe they're the people

who we should be getting to vote for third parties. Guys, I don't know what kind of negligence I've been dealing with over the last two plus years of doing this podcast.

But somehow I have managed to never sit down with one of my all-time favorite podcasters, Rania Kaelic.

Way back at the before times. Pre-Birdy. 15. I don't even know how I found your podcast, but it was on unauthorized disclosure that I first was introduced to Katie Halper and then I hopped over to the Katie Hopper show and was listening to both. And that's how my universe grew. So when I say this is an incredible oversight and that us chatting here is years coming. Like, that's what I mean.

That's so cool. That actually like makes me really happy that anything I was involved with could be a gateway for someone going down the rabbit hole of me. So for me, it was democracy now was like one of my biggest that and others was like a big gateway drug for me where I was like, oh, this is who Noam Chomsky is. This is who, like in all these other people on and on and on. But it's very cool to hear. That really makes me happy. It was so long ago, Rania, that I have some clips coming up. I thought we could react to a little bit. Back then, it wasn't even Pod Save America.

It was keeping it's 1,600. That's how long ago it was, but I was in this podcast rotation of... I was listening back in the day, part of the rebrand of Keep It at 1600 to Podsave was that...

I'm sure you remember this.

They really, I think, oversold how confident they were about Hillary Clinton winning the election in 2016.

And they had to eat a lot of crow.
