TRIGGER WARNING: This epsiode contains a case that features discussions of post-partum psychosis and the deaths of children. Whilst descriptions are not explicit, please take care whilst listening. Lindsay Clancy was described as the perfect mother. She doted on her three children and she worked as a midwife. But in January 2023.... she committed the worst crime imaginable and took the lives of her three children, but why? Her defence say that she had post-partum psychosis, the prosecution say she knew what she was doing. But how can we ever really know or understand, how this rare but potentially fatal illness can affect a new mother? Well, today we can get a step closer to understanding post-partum psychosis. Lacey, is a mother-of-two, who adores her children and works in mental health services. She was diagnosed with post-partum psychosis and has lived through an unimaginable experience. And on her darkest day, she attempted to take the life of her baby. Lacey is here to tell her story. This is Real.
