Today I would like to talk to you about how growth is greater than goals. And I know this episode might not come at maybe most convenient time because usually about goals

and New Year's resolutions people talk about in the first few weeks of January, but I believe

that a lot of people are setting goals and failing at them. In fact, statistics says that most of the

goals they are not reached and they are

completely dropped and abandoned by a few weeks in January. I mean, January comes and, you know,

gyms are packed and people are excited to get back into their beach body and lose weight and

eating healthy and, you know, most churches start fast in January. So this is a good

spiritual energizing month. And then by February and March, most of us are back in our old

routines. And I believe there's a concept change that must happen with us as believers to shift

from goal-oriented to growth-oriented.

I heard of this concept first from John Maxwell, so it didn't originate with me.

But I would like to read a scripture that Jesus highlights this as well.

He said in Matthew 11, 29, in Matthew 11 and 28, he says, first, come to me all of you who are heavy

leaden and are burdened. And he says, I will give you rest. And then in 29, he says that,

take my yoke upon yourself, take my yoke upon you and learn from me. For I am gentle

and humble in heart and you will find rest for

your souls and then in verse 30 he says for my yoke is easy and my burden is light I want you to see the

emphasis of Jesus of I want you to see these these two categories that the first is, if we come to Jesus the way we are,

he is gracious, he is good, he gives us rest. But we don't get everything by coming to Jesus,

because otherwise it would be unnecessary to say, take my yoke and learn from me if coming to

Jesus gives you everything that Jesus has to offer.
