Hello everyone, welcome to the Stephen King cast, One Man's Musings on the Works of Stephen King.

Each week I will review one entry in the bibliography of Stephen King, and this week I am here to review the adaptations of Carrie, which means that I will be covering the classic 1976, Brian Topoma film, the 2013 film.

I will not be covering the TV movie or the play version of Carrie.

And actually, while I'm on the subject, I had completely forgotten about the 2002 USA movie.

It's just weird because I remember around that time, there was just a strange relationship that King had with USA in the early 2000s.

It led to the Dead Zone television show, and apparently a completely forgettable Carrie remake starring Claire from Lost.

So last week, I went into detail covering all the aspects of Carrie, and what I want to do this week, I just want to dive right into the review. I watched

both versions last night, and so there's, the review is not going to be nearly as structured

as breaking down the characters and breaking down the themes and the kingisms that are found

within, you know, each of the versions. It's, I'm going to review the De Palma movie first,

but in that review, I'm going to kind of weave in and out of the 2013 edition as well.

So just looking at the 76 movie, I mean, it begins with a game of volleyball on the yard

rather than in the pool as seen in the 2013 edition.

And unlike that remake, this scene is not drawn out.

It just gets to it right away.

A ball goes flying towards Carrie.

Carrie swings, she whiffs, all the girls groan.

And then causing her team to lose the game, they reenter the locking room,

each one showing their displeasure at having lost

at Carrie's inability to do anything right.

I think that it's just, it's a good move on to Palma's part
