Just a few minutes before this report, we heard from one of our newsmen in Dallas on the scene, James Kerr, who said that a Dallas policeman, J.D. Tippett, was shot to death by an unknown man in a car, minutes after the president and Governor Connolly were shot.

The officer was shot about two miles from the scene of the presidential assassination hello everyone and welcome back to the podcast.

And of course, it's a continuation in the Tippett murder series.

In our previous episodes, we have meticulously traced the movements of probably what are two distinct individuals in the immediate

aftermath of President Kennedy's assassination. A man we can all identify with that we know is Lee Harvey

Oswald and a man who bears a striking resemblance but follows a very

different path. We've followed two characters as likely they both left the scene at the Texas

school book Depository. One of them chronicled in the Warren Commission who made his way from

there to his rooming house on North Beckley, and a second character who may have gotten away

as he was picked up in a rambler. However things went from there, it put at least one of them

on a collision course with Dallas police officer J.D. Tippett. Today, we pick up the narrative in the

moments after that fateful confrontation, just after 1 o'clock p.m.

In the quiet Oak Cliff neighborhood of Dallas, Officer Tippett has found shot to death beside his

patrol car close to the corner of 10th and Patton. This single act of violence sets off a frantic

citywide manhunt, drawing dozens of officers and citizen witnesses into a chaotic

chase that will culminate just minutes later at a local movie theater.
