Two days out from their miraculous victory at Mara Kajevo,

the fleet of Henry Morgan was hunted by a hurricane. They could see it coming

and they had no hope of escape. So the sailors struck their sails and dropped anchor

but the sea was too rough and too deep to hold them in place.

It was easily possible to reach land before the storm struck, but they would be greeted

there only by Spanish muskets and native spears.

Their best hope was to stay at sea, face the storm, and hopefully ride it out.

So they battened the hatches, secured the guns and their plunder, and they prayed.

The storm hit, and their ships were rocked on violent waves.
