Good morning, Barbara. Nice to have you here. Can you tell us more about yourself? What is your background?

Good morning, Catherine, and thank you for inviting me on ECDC on air. It's a pleasure,

actually, to be here today to discuss what is scientific advice, why ECDC produces scientific advice,

to whom and how does ECDC do it? So shortly on my background, I'm a microbiologist, and spent 13 years in academic research before I joined DCDC in 2011.

I held many functions at the CDC, but a little over five years ago, I joined the team working on scientific processes and methods.

What brought you to work on this specific topic? What brought me to work on scientific processes and methods?

Well, scientific processes and methods are part of what we say

is good scientific practice and scientific integrity. They always been in the center

of my work. From the moment, I decided to become a scientist and a researcher. So I always believe

that you need strong scientific processes and methods if you want your peers and fellow researcher

to trust your work and your research.
