today I'm going to be talking to you about a topic that's very important to me I'm

And let's start with a very, very, very, very simple question,

a deceptively simple question.

What is a journalist?

And I know there's a lot of journalism students in the crowd today,

so I assure you this is not an academic question.

This is not a rhetorical question.

This is not a philosophical question.

This is a very, very real question that has very real answers that are being worked out right now in

a discourse that's taking place perhaps most notably at this point in time in the United States,

surrounding the Edward Snowden case and the reporting on that case by journalist,

journalist, Glenn Greenwald.
