Welcome back to another episode of Fearless. Today is a very special

episode for me because if I could pick one woman to be the poster woman of the word fearless, it would be Tammy Joe Schultz.

Many of you remember her from April 17, 2018, when she was the pilot of a southwest flight

when the engine exploded, and she safely landed that

plane in her passengers in Philadelphia.

But her story started way before that day in April. When she was a woman that has lived in a man's

world. She was one of the first women pilots in the Navy to fly a fighter jet and

she has faced rejection, she has faced adversity but she has fought through and she is known to have

and nerves of steel.

Today I'm excited because I have a special guest and I probably say all my guests are

special but this one is special to me but I've gotten to know Tammy Joe over the last three years.

In Alaska, her and her husband, Dean,

and their son Marshall have come up

to visit the Samaritan's purse lodge

where we serve wounded veterans and their spouses up here.

And that's where we are.

We're in Alaska right now.

Once again, they've come up the third summer in a row.

And many people know her story, it's a fascinating story and it's a story of

fearlessness and that's of course what my heart is here on Fearless podcast

but I love who she is. And Tammy Joe, you wrote me a letter that very first summer we met. You personalize and wrote me a letter one day, and I still have that letter. You'll never know how much that meant to me as a mom and somebody
