funny, like the way I talk about these things intellectually and in my own work, I think people

have the perception that somehow I don't, you know, I'm not dealing with racist things on a regular

basis, but I totally am and I'm complaining about them and I'm, you know, dealing with things

regarding my own, you know, adult kids now. People in my family, right, there's never a limited

quantity of insults, encounters, having to deal with people in different context that certainly reeks of just old school racism, right? So I'm not of the mind to say that that's not happening. The issue for me, and it's kind of where we bring the class dimension

in, how does it matter for me, right? So, like, there's been moments where I've had people

in my, you know, I've been stopped by cops many times, right? A lot of harassment stops.

I've been stopped by security in the airports.

This was after September 11th.

I guess at that point I was probably mistaken as some middle eastern guys.

But I was stopped three times on one trip from Rochester to New York to Chicago to Tokyo, right?

Twice in the Rochester airport, once in the Chicago airport.

Yeah, you can't be bearded beige and flying internationally after 9-11.

That was your mistake.

Right, right.

But even in the domestic context, right, many times stopped by cops and then let go, right?

So pure harassment stop, right?

So I'm not, I wouldn't be the one

to deny the presence of that sort of racial targeting and discrimination. But how does it

matter for me? For some of us, you know, even when we stop by a cop, even if we harassed

or wrongly charged with something, we have the, you know, the resources, the networks, I have lawyers who are friends.

I can talk to and dial them up quickly.
